Follow a family on a journey towards self sufficiency. Is it possible for a suburban family with no gardening background to produce 80% of their own fruit and veg?

January 2013 Summary
With what feels to be an overwhelming amount of produce pouring out of the garden, I was sure we would have hit the 80% vegetable self-sufficiency mark. Alas after doing the sums it has only turned out to be 68%. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a figure I am proud of, the highest yet. Particularly as it only took 14 and half hours of my time this month to achieve it.

January saw the garden grow in to mini jungle, and one filled with food I recognise.

That's fantastic! What an amazing result. I hope I can achieve similar one day.
